Fantastic Fairy Tales and How to Write Them @ Back Space

9 AM – 5 PM

For ages: 12 – 15, July 17 – 21

In this camp, we’ll explore the origins of fairy tales and myths, trace their transformations through time, and write our own stories of magical transformation and mystery. Come prepared to battle darkness and win!

What is it like to attend a Denver Writes Summer Writing Camp?

These camps are for kids, like you, who like to write. You don’t have to be good at writing, you certainly don’t have to get good grades in writing, and we accept all kinds of handwriting, but you have to LIKE TO WRITE. Otherwise, things might be a drag.

Our home base is at Back Space (below Metropolis Coffee) at 1 S. Broadway. We will go on field trips to places around the Baker neighborhood and throughout Denver to get inspired to express ourselves in positive ways with the best words we can find.

Also, we publish a summer camp anthology that you help author. We want you to see new things, think new thoughts, and then write new stories to share with the world.

In 2016, we may again offer a writing camp at BookBar, located in the Berkeley Neighborhood of North Denver. This camp is a unique partnership between Denver Writes, BookBar and the Denver Bookbinding Company where kids will not only write a book, but will publish and bind it as well. Then, they’ll return to BookBar that Friday evening for a launch party!

Join us, if you dare. Space is limited!
